Their romance started off in college. Sara, a collegiate swimmer with roots to the Orange County Competitive swim scene took a seat in her 8am business class dressed in team sweats and her hair in a sloppy bun, having just finished morning practice. Wes was already seated, but noticed this laid back beauty as she took her seat. Nothing happened all year. Then again their senior year, they happened to have the same 8am class. Wes, a laid back and confident “no nonsense” type guy, again noticed Sara, but coincidence pinged in the back of his mind throughout the semester. It took all semester for him to say something to Sara. Maybe it was her “don’t even care right now” attire…. or maybe it was her sweet personality…. or maybe it was just a combination of it all that stole Wes’ heart. Either way, he finally worked up the courage to ask her on a date….. and as fate would have it, this handsome southern gentleman has won the heart of this California girl… forever.
Now, Sara and I have an odd amount of things in common. Not only were we both swimmers in high school, but we also know a lot of the same people. While I wasn’t nearly as fast as she was, we swam the same events…. we probably even raced one another. Neither of us swim competitively or consistently anymore, but we’ve both gotten into running. Two peas in a pod. We’d probably hang out like all the time if she didn’t live in Richmond, Virginia. (Maybe the’ll move. Fingers crossed.)
Anyways… all that to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Wes and Sara shooting their engagement photos in Corona Del Mar and Crystal Cove. They’re so sweet with one another, and very laid back. We were all content to chat here and there, but the silence in between bits of conversation was comfortable… like we’d known one another for a while. They smiled and laughed shyly in the beginning, but by the end their shells were cast aside before a spectacular winter sunset. We got such great shots and I am SO EXCITED to photograph their wedding this coming July! Here are the favorites….
I just have to say how IN LOVE I am with Sara’s red dress on the beach…. Swwooooon!
