Love “auf Deutsch”

Photographic and artistic inspiration can come from many avenues. Some people say you can’t be truly and uniquely creative unless it’s an original idea. But… as my friend Jonathan Lau always quoted from Ecclesiastes, “there’s nothing new under the sun.” It’s all been done before. HOWEVER… as artists see things that are inspirational to their own style and skill, the inspiration in itself morphs into something uniquely different and consistent with that artist. If that makes absolutely no sense to you… take this for an example…

My good friends Philip and Bettina got married this past August, and even though I was not able to attend the event in Germany, they were courteous enough to send me their save the dates and wedding invites. I was sooo bummed, I couldn’t go, but it was worth it enough to receive these awesome pieces of art in the mail! So often we (meaning Americans) get so sucked into the “American style circle” where we don’t often look for design inspiration outside of our small country bubble. If only we knew…. all our style comes from Europe. They’ve got it goin’ on! And the photographers/designers Hanna & Robin Ohlrogge have the right idea with the amazing engagement photos, save the date cards, and wedding invitations! I absolutely love them and would love to meet them someday! 🙂 Hanna… Robin… your art and photography are my inspiration today! Cheers!

Here’s the super cute Save the Date’s… Bettina and Philip were nice enough to create “english versions” for their non-German friends…
