I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when Gavin and Erin asked me to be their 3rd eye for this wedding. Shooting with two such esteemed photographers as themselves is something I had only done in my daydreams. Never did I think, for a second, I would be doing it in real life! Hopefully I hid my terror well, because well…. I was terrified. I don’t know about you, but I have these moments when I’m scared stiff at the possibility people might realize I’m not as awesome as they think I am. This was one of those moments. Fast forward to the morning of the wedding…. and I’m sitting at my desk nervously doing nothing of importance with my bags packed, and I’m completely ready to go…. 2 hours early. Now, for those of you who know me, this is completely unlike me… I’m usually, um… fashionably late… ? The whole car ride over, I’m checking and re-checking my mental check-list…. then we arrived.
We had arrived at Pelican Hill, the mother of all wedding venues… the most gorgeous and well kept resort I think I’ve ever been to. Erin and I grabbed our gear and headed to meet Amber and the girls while Gavin sped off to meet up with Paul and the guys. I had heard rumors of the splendor of the bridal room… but seriously… I think I could shoot there every week! From then on, the day just kept getting better and better… and Amber and Paul were A DREAM to work with! Here’s my (50, sorry) favorites from they day…..
Now, I have to say…. when Erin told me Amber’s an Anesthesiologist, this is not what I had in mind! Shoot! I want her to be my Anesthesiologist EVERY time I have surgery!
Mrs. Wade doin’ her thang….
And the partner in crime doin’ his…
I think this guy was just tired of wearing a tux all day…. haha. I love this shot for some reason!
Prepare yourself…. these next shots will probably make you drool, because I totally am right now….
You think those are gorgeous? Guess what comes next…. the first dance at sunset… under that amazing gazebo. Holy Crayola.
Then a party ensued….
And this post wouldn’t be complete without a little love to mah friends…..
I guess those moments when you’re scared stiff are also those “defining moments”… those times we’ll look back on and smile. Experiences that stretch you beyond what you think you’re capable of are definitely necessary to becoming the better version of you. This wedding was one of those “defining moments” for me. I was invited to play with the big kids, and I ended up surprising myself when I realized I could hold my own.
To Amber and Paul, wherever you are. You rocked my world on your wedding day and I wish you the absolute best in your new marriage! To Gavin and Erin, you too, rocked my world at this wedding and I’m so grateful to call you friends. To be asked to shoot with you two was a dream come true (to be cheesy, but you both know I like cheesy) and I feel so privileged to have done so. Stay classy….
