NO-better-VEMBER to be Thankful

Fall is my favorite time of year. I’m sure I sound like a broken record if you’ve followed my blog over the years because every fall I post photos of beautiful fall leaves and how thankful I am for them…. bla bla bla. But in all seriousness…. I really do love fall. A few weeks ago, I had the chance to photograph a dear friend’s wedding in Boulder, CO and the fall foliage was almost more than I could take. I couldn’t get enough of it!

It’s all the little things about the autumn season that make it such an amazing time of thanksgiving. The brilliant colors, the crisp cool weather, the mind blowing sunsets, the crop harvesting, and preparation for the holidays. I’ve been reading Ann Voskamp’s “One Thousand Gifts” whose premise is that life lived to the full is a life lived saturated in thanksgiving. She began making a list of everything she’s thankful for with the aim of reaching 1,000 things on her list. And as she continued living life with thankfulness on her mind at all times, she found her life becoming richer and more joyful. It’s a wonderful book (a crier for sure) and I highly recommend it this holiday season… for you and it makes a great gift as well!

So with that, as we usher in the busy busy month of November, I encourage you to practice thanksgiving this entire month. Make a list, instagram photos with a hashtag #thankfulnovember so you can look back and remember it all later. And if you have a moment, write a few letters to people you’re especially thankful for this year…. it’s always so encouraging to receive a hand written note like that.
